 June visited Dubai in 1979 and stayed for several years, painting landscapes and city-scenes, many of which are now only a memory.
In 1980, June was commissioned to paint the portrait of HH Sheik Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, then President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi. It was the first of three commissions to paint Gulf rulers, the others being HH Sheik Isa bin Sulman Al Khalifa of Bahrain and HM Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman.
