"Painting with oil paint, to me, is about the stuff.
The physical quality of how it works.
To me it is about responding to what came before, gradually finding your way into the painting through scraping off, putting on, moving paint about.
Sometimes, while using my hands it is the sheer pleasure of being in contact with the stuff. This all instills life into the canvas and hopefully shows the relationship between the artist and paint.

"Painting with oil paint, to me, is about the stuff.
The surface quality you can get when using a palette knife or a brush, or your hands.
Painting is a physical process.
It is about instilling energy into the work and this is when the relationship between the canvas, subject and artist happens.
Taking inspiration from travels in the United Arab Emirates and Oman, I have tried to capture the essence of the landscape.
Be it the desert, the wadis, the mountains or the beautiful coastline.
I find myself drawn to these ancient eroded open spaces.
These areas have a sense of timelessness.
The emptiness and the sheer beauty makes me want to try and capture it in paint, be it working on location or back in my studio in Cornwall."
