ROBERT LOVETT

Robert Lovett is one of Australia's best loved, and best known artists - he has been painting for 50 years.

He first gained recognition for his outback themes, mostly involving horses and cattle. Later he expanded his portfolio to include human figures and city scenes. Now, his passion for travel to such far off climes as Asia, the Pacific Islands , Europe, America and of course, the UAE means that his canvasses depict subjects and scenes which though often exotic, nevertheless offer a fascinating glimpse into 'a way of life' or 'moment in time'.

Over the years, Robert has been awarded a number of prestigious accolades. From 1950 to 1968, he was the official artist to the Snowy Mountains Authority - he worked on location for the filming of 'The Man from Snowy River', which culminated in a sell-out exhibition in the Sydney Opera House. The Australian Mint subsequently reproduced Robert's 'The Man from Snowy River' image on a limited edition five dollar coin.

Robert is also a member of the exclusive Australian Watercolour Institute, although he frequently works in oils to great effect. His ability to capture not only the reality of a scene, but also the essence of a place, enables him to captivate the hearts and imaginations of a very appreciative public.
