Valerie Grove

Valerie Grove is a Dubai-based artist who moved to the emirate in May. She has previously lived in the Middle East and also spent many years in Japan where she first started painting.

As a response to growing environmental concerns in the 1990s, Valerie started painting on board, paper and other material found in the street, so Nature Strikes Back, essentially began as a recycling project in 1998.

Her work explores the relationship between traditional and digital spectrums, and experiments with colour, texture and light by combining different materials.

Most of Valerie's work is inspired by nature. The four paintings here depict trees, three of which were part of a series of fifteen ‘Artificial Landscapes,' exhibited in London last year.
