Square enix to buy Eidos

Japanese videogame maker Square Enix Holdings has agreed to buy Eidos, the UK-based company behind titles including Tomb Raider and Championship Manager for $121.3m. Midway Games, the creator of the Mortal Kombat series, has also filed for bankruptcy protection for its US operations after its main investor sold his 87% stake to a private client. This has triggered a clause whereby noteholders can demand their money back, and the company has said that it will be unable to pay if this happens.
