Mita is living a comfortable life in Dubai since 1989 and has been running her own company for 6 years. Like everyone else in the City, she goes out with her friends on weekends to have a good dinner. Watch her favourite TV shows, read books, answers quiz in the paper and occasionally hits the sea with her fishing rod.
However, on one occasion, Mita's friend decided to visit Nepal on a trekking trip. During the trip in Nepal, Mita's friend run into a youth orphanage house with 49 head counts including a two-year-old child, waiting for help outside Nepal. Scarcity is all over the place and at times, even a bottle of milk is not available for the children. Also, the orphanage has no management or any system in place to run the house, including the paperworks. These events change the perspectives of Mita's friend who then shared the story with Mita. Upon arrival of Mita's friend in Dubai - the two women decided to do something with high hopes that some people will support them on their quest. Through Mita and her friends's effort two charity organizations were born in UAE recently – the New Youth Orphanage in Kathmandu where they plan to fund a two year nutrition and medical programme. The second charity organization is, Welfare Association of Fujairah, UAE, which assists widows and destitute families with small business start-ups and retraining schemes. Also, Mita’s friend had recently left Dubai to manage the orphanage in Kathmandu. Mita does not expect anything in return for her dedication and effort to these organizations. The gratitude that she received, and the genuine smile of the people that she had helped, are more than enough for her. Giving and helping others to have a better life, are the things that encourage Mita to go on with her projects. “ When living in the comfort of Dubai, we often forget the people who has very little in their life. Giving and looking after these people will keep you grounded”, she said. Being in Dubai for some time doesn’t change what she loved about the place which is the diversity of the people and its culture. Mita is an inspiration, apart from starting the charity organizations, she is someone who aims to make a change and do something in the community. Mita's encouraging words is, “if you get the chance to do something good – you have to do it and always challenge yourself with things that are fulfilling”.

I know she didn't go to Nepal...the trek was planned over one too many drinks. Thats how they hatched the Kilimanjaro trip and now this trek, the only difference being for the Nepal trip they wanted to do something purposeful. It's a worthy cause. I would like to go with them on this trek provided she sanctions my leave.
