Emma Scanlan talks to Dubai Lime about Diarydubai - an enteresting website for busy people in PR and Events companies, brands who produce events in-house, TV stations, the music, film, arts & publishing industries, charities and media. How long you've been in Dubai? I arrived in Dubai in February 2007, so I have been here for over 18 months. Where are you from originally?
I am originally from
Perth where I grew up and left after university to work in the PR industry in
Sydney where I lived there for 5 years.
I am the founder of diarydubai.com.
Having used a similar resource in Sydney and knowing
New York and London also rely on a diary resource, I thought it was much needed
in the PR industry here and introduced it in August 2008. I left my role in PR
to solely concentrate on developing diarydubai, which from buying the domain to
having a finished product has taken 3 months. We are offering all PR and events
professionals a free trial so they can become familiar with the site!
Diarydubai is a members only website that provides an
overview of PR and event activities in Dubai throughout the year.In Dubai’s busy market where the PR and events industry is growing rapidly,
subscribers to diarydubai gain an advantage for their clients by ensuring they
avoid event clashes and maximise media attendance by finding clear space for
their activities.
We are aiming to encourage the industry to collaborate and work together to
avoid event clashes, streamline the media's hectic diaries by creating a single
source for all to view online, while providing a resource for professionals to
effectively schedule their events.
The media in Dubai have been most encouraging, they have really seen a need for
diarydubai! Too often invitations are lost in the post or never arrive by
courier - having your event posted on www.diarydubai.com
eliminates these probabilities and enables the media to be aware of what events
are on any day of the year. Event and PR companies benefit as they can reserve
space for activities and find the best timing that does not conflict with other
events that may have a similar target market or need the same media type in

In Dubai, everyone is busy and sometimes we wish, we have a double or a stunt man or woman, just like in movie productions. However, we are not in the movies. Organization and planning ahead perhaps is the key to minimize mishaps in our schedules. Keeping a diary is helpful.
