nick_gray.jpgPodcasting has become more and more popular these days. It is an alternative to those who do not have the patience to read texts or written information from individual hobbies and interests to educational information.  Recently, Dubai Lime caught up with a music podcaster, Nick Gray from UK. Nick will talk about his likes in music and his music podcasts.

Tell us something about yourself?

My name is Nick Gray, I was born in Toronto, Canada but grew up in the UK.

Aside from your interest in music, do you have a day job?

Yes, I prepare witnesses for appearing in Crown Court in England.

What kind of music are you interested with?

I grew up listening to Jazz, Soul, R’n B and Funk back in the 1980s but over the last 15 years I have also followed World, Electronica and experimental club music. I also prepare original DJ sets based on all this music.

When did you start your music review podcast?

It has been running since the beginning of February 2008.

Can you tell us more about your music review podcast?

The idea is to give everyone worldwide, suggestions on what to buy and also analysis of important music – new and old. It is designed to save time for anyone searching for new music. At the same time, my podcast is a chance for many international artists to get exposure and free marketing of their music - based on whether I like it, of course!

The podcast also includes a selection of the best albums, singles, current top ten, selected international DJ or live gigs, exclusive new music and a feature on a great album, artist or music scene in the past.

All the above music tastes are encompassed and it last between 15 and 20 minutes every two weeks. The podcast can be downloaded to your computer or MP3 player. No music is played to protect copyright and encourage people to buy.

emancipation_logo.jpgCan anyone subscribe to your music review podcast?

It is free and people anywhere can subscribe to it through iTunes (‘emancipation’ in the shop) to get future editions. If you just want one you can access it through http://emancipation.mypodcast.com. Details are also available through http://www.myspace.com/nick_emancipation_music.

What do you think the future of your music podcast?

I intend to attract advertising – limited to two in each podcast – while also continuing to be a source for everyone seeking new music but not having the time to read or listen to what is out there.

I certainly look forward to hearing from Dubai’s music community. Please drop me a line at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
