A combination of beauty and mystery, the site continues to attract thousands of visitors and persistent scholarly interest.
In 2011-2012, we commemorate the expeditions of Yale University and the National Geographic Society, which led to the modern disclosure of Machu Picchu.
On this occasion, the Consulate General of Peru, recently established in Dubai, is pleased to present a fascinating historical and pictorial exhibition which traces the adventure of Hiram Bingham, the American archaeologist responsible for the momentous disclosure in 1911.
The exhibition displays, among other themes, the mapping evidence of internal knowledge on the existence of Machu Picchu, as well as numerous maps, drawings and old photographs of the Bingham expeditions.
Presented for the first time in the U.A.E., the exhibition is open to the public, free of charge, in the exhibit area of the Consulate General of Peru, located on the 25th floor of Al Habtoor Business Tower, Dubai Marina.
