'alpha' Club Review

Clubs/Bars
Written by Rosario Rafal-Olaes

alpha1.jpgIs it a bird, is it a plane no it’s ‘alpha’! Well and truly making a name for its self, chuck an 80’s night in and you'll be laughing. So big bad and beautiful! ‘alpha’ has a series of nights and is closed Sunday and Monday, well for now anyways.

What is nice to see is the former Greek restaurant has now become a success, who says if at first you don’t succeed? It is a bit true, but what we really mean to say is, if at first you don’t succeed, get somebody to do it properly.

‘alpha’ bags up with all the goodies needed for a great night out using the best offerings from Dubai’s localized talent, no name dropping but anyone that freelances and plays the top nights around the Jumeirah directions will more than likely be a face there, pumping there stuff outta the Funktion One sound system, (which is an absolute belter). Playing or partying!

I have also asked the questions regarding seating. A big mushcullah as they say is, can you go to a club, and actually sit down if you don’t buy a bottle? In ‘alpha’ you can! Along the musical genres ‘alpha’ is dance orientated all the way, but does mix everything from drum and bass, dirty breaks, electro, old skool right into deep end tech house.

So we have covered the music and the DJ’s, the décor is caked in Greek marble, you go the fact that. Doing it right means getting somebody that knows what they are doing, and you got the fact you can sit down and/or dance your back off. All you need to do now is ‘alpha’ your self on down there and give it a go.

'alpha' Club is located at Le Meridien Hotel, Dubai.

Time Cafe, Dubai - Review

Clubs/Bars
Written by Rosario Rafal-Olaes

time_cafe_in_dubai.jpgEuro 2008 at Time Café Bur Dubai boasted their in house permanent screenage. Over 50 plasmas and 2 video walls, nobody has a video wall in this city! Time Café under new management but staying part of the Ramee Group has a plan to place the average venue on the side line and put Time Café in its place as a leading venue for sports and entertainment.

Soon to be starting a series of themed nights, more live music, more DJs and most importantly more sports. With 15 receivers and seating for over 350 people this sports bar is surely the biggest and best kept secret, not overwhelming busy, and we have to say yet, as this little secret is not going to stay hidden long.

The average game for the under dog team that is usually not show can be shown here. A massive bar area separated with a huge bar houses 4 American pool tables, a mini golf putting green a darts board and a separate function room for private parties, at a very small fee.

The food is fantastic and service is caring for your needs. The fresh fish and meat counter can be seen in the dining area and allows you the option of choosing a fish or a piece of the fine imported steak range. Meats from New Zealand and Australia, chicken from Brazil and fish from the Atlantic make imported food taste great at very regular prices.

Time Café also hosts a resident band the Boxtones, a club manager called Andi M, that teams up as a DJ and  2 extra DJs from Channel 4 on Fridays for Karaoke. Now that’s a line up,  and more entertainment is coming when they introduce the ladies night which is part of the Golden Triangle. More about that soon, keep your eyes locked here.

The Loft Club in Dubai

Clubs/Bars
Written by Soony

By far the place to be seen at the moment is the Loft Club.  Right in the centre of town and providing a international menu and a lounge / bar on the top floor the loft is also home to the Lime Green Music Theatre in Dubai every Thursday.

Any night of the week you will find the Dubai arts and music crowd mooching around the bar, certainly the place for the Dubai  in crowd to hang out - ( If you can get in of course! )
