Godolphin is the Maktoum family's pri
vate horseracing stable and was named in honour of the Godolphin Arabian, who came from the desert to become one of the three founding stallions of the modern thoroughbred.
Godolphin has become synonymous with international competition, aiming its best horses at the world's major races. To achieve that, it has developed a unique approach to training horses, one that is designed to advance the stable's global achievements
To date, Godolphin has won 160 Group/Grade One races in 12 different countries (Australia, Canada, Dubai, England, Ireland, France, Italy, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and America).
What started in 1992 with a han dful of horses, has evolved into the world's foremost international racing stable.
Godolphin's headquarters are at Al Quoz Stables in Dubai, where each winter the team of horses that will carry the royal blue colours the following season are brought together to be prepared for the internation al campaigns that lie ahead. It is at Al Quoz that strategies are forged and ambitious new targets are formulated.
The facilities for the horses include a private training track and equine swimming pool, as well as state-of-the-art veterinary back-up. The welfare of the horses is paramount and the Godolphin team benefits from a dedicated feed mill, ensuring both control and uniformity in the diets of the horses.
From Al Quoz, Godolphin campaigns its string at Meydan (previously called Nad Al Sheba), beginning with the Dubai International Racing Carnival. This nine-week festival of top-class racing starts at the end of January and culminates with the US$10 million Dubai World Cup, the world's richest race, in late March.
