When we talk about the new Lexus GS, this four-door saloon car has words to describe- comfortable, luxurious, reliable and sporty. With Lexus new 2013 GS 350 launching, the term ‘sporty’ is pretty much a key part of the cars character.
GS 350 has a stiffer platform, wider track and revived suspension system, it may just handle almost as well as the LFA.
There is no big V8 under the bonnet. It has an engine bay with 3.5-litre V6 with port and direct injection, four valves per cylinder, four cams and variable valve timing. It’s mated to a quicker-shifting six-speed automatic with paddle shifters, which come as standard. Don’t, however, think the V6 is a weakling, it’s far from that. The GS 350 produces 306bhp and hits 0-100kph in a very respectable 5.7seconds.
In addition to the Normal drive mode, you also get Eco, Sport and Sport Plus. There’s an optional all-wheel drive system which can vary front-to-rear torque balance from 50/50 to 30/70.
Everyone like the sculpted new looks of the GS 350 especially the aggressive front bumper and air inlets on the outer edges of the grille, not to mention the diffuser at the back and the 17in alloys - which you can spec up to 19in.
Inside, there’s space galore and since it’s a Lexus, the seats are more comfortable than your favourite armchair. It features ambient lighting, an energy-saving climate control called S-Flow, a DVD audio and video compatibility and a high-resolution 8in central control display while on the safety front, it has a class-leading 10 airbags.
